Sunday Cabaret at 176

A FABULOUS afternoon of top class entertainment and bingo were enjoyed by a capacity crowd at Lodge St Andrew (Denny and Loanhead) No. 176 on the first Sunday in June and raised £1,200 for Prostate Scotland.

Leading lights on the cabaret circuit John Ferguson and Trina Milne brought their vocal talents and the bumper crowd brought their money.

The event was to support Bro. Derek Robertson, of Lodge Bannockburn Bruce and Thistle No. 312, who in April and May did a sponsored walk around all the masonic lodges in Stirlingshire. He hoped to raise £10,000 but ended up with more than three times that amount.

In common with other Lodges in the Province, Lodge No. 176 organised an event to support his efforts. The Sunday afternoon charity cabaret was a first for the Lodge and terrific success. Another is planned later in the year this time to support Strathcarron Hospice.

Sincere thanks to everyone who helped in any way to support the fund raising either with prizes, cash donations or by attending.

Derek Robertson is pictured receiving the cheque for £1,200, flanked by RWM Trevor Deans, left, and Treasurer Martin McMenemy.
