176 MEAL DEAL

Lodge St. Andrew No. 176 was unable to stage the annual treat for senior members and widows this year due to current Covid lockdown. Instead chef Alistair MacDonald prepared 120 meals and 15 members of the Lodge distributed them last Saturday.

RWM James Wilson said: “We were able to have our treat on the first Saturday in March last year before the pandemic took hold.
“It was clear early on that we wouldn’t be able to have this year’s event and thanks to our chef and delivery drivers we provided a lovely two course meal instead.”

The Lodge had backing from The Grand Lodge of Scotland for a meal initiative last May and thanks to the generosity of members was able to provide repeated deliveries. The Lodge also organised a special Christmas dinner delivery.

Lodge Master Bro. Wilson added: “While the meal is much appreciated the contact to arrange delivery and a wee chat on the doorstep has been even more important. It has also been good to keep in touch with our office bearers and brethren.”

James and Betty Harley, from Denny, were among the latest recipients.

In a letter to the secretary James wrote: “We want to thank the Lodge for its kindness to the senior members and widows by providing and delivering meals during this pandemic. This has been extremely generous by those who have given their times and talents.”
