176 Deliver Christmas Meals

Masons from Lodge St. Andrew (Denney and Loanhead No 176 have made headline news in their local paper, the Falkirk Herald.

A team of drivers headed by RWM James Wilson delivered over 100 Christmas dinners to some of their senior members and widows.

Treasurer Martin McMenemy snapped the team with chef Bro. Alistair MacDonald before they headed off from the Lodge car park.

Lodge St. Andrew organised a meals initiative in the early months of the COVID pandemic and gained some financial support from The Grand Lodge of Scotland through the Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire.

The response from recipients was terrific and in a recent meeting by Zoom it was agreed to lay on a Christmas special. A successful Christmas raffle helped to fund this December delivery.

A report on the project was submitted with a picture to the Falkirk Herald and published on Wednesday 23rd December.

Secretary Archie Mackay, PM, said :”I’ve had loads of calls and messages from our senior members and widows thanking the Lodge not just for the meal but for thinking of them and spending a short time chatting on the doorstep

“It has really meant a lot to them. It’s also been good for many of our young office bearers to be directly involved in a Lodge project.”
