Square and Compasses Waving Saltire

Building Repair Works at 176

Major drainage work has commenced at 176, having been in the planning stages for sometime now. Drainage/rain water has been cascading from our roof areas for some time now, however with careful planning and good logistics the tasks were taken on board recently. The main protagonists were the RWM Jim Wilson (project manager) Bro Treasurer Martin McMenemy (financial controller and dogs body) Bro Gordon Blair, (workman from the quarry) and 176 resident Bro Skinner.(doc)

With the help of the cherry picker the three downpipes and various bends and fixings and blocked drains were eventually fitted cleaned and secured. Alas the Bro Treasurer had to break into the fabric fund coffers to fund the repairs but on seeing the result was warmly delighted. All three downpipes, bends and connections are now in order and ready to face the winter and another fifty years.

Pictures show RWM Bro Jim Wilson high aloft on the cherry picker Bro Skinner ensuring all levels and perpendiculars were on the square, while Bro Blair gets down in the drains and gulleys to ensure the said water can escape. Cheque book Charlie pays the bill!
