Continuing Suspension of Masonic Activity

I refer to the above subject and report on the meeting of the Heads of Masonic Orders in Scotland that took place on Wednesday 13 January 2021.

The continuing global health crisis was discussed in detail along with a review of the current suspension of masonic activity throughout all Scottish Orders. It was noted that the United Kingdom was once again in lockdown following a resurgence and variation of the Covid-19 virus. It was further noted that most public events throughout the country had been cancelled up to the end of July 2021.

As a result, Heads of Orders unanimously agreed to continue the current suspension of all masonic activity in Scotland. This decision will be reviewed on 9 June 2021, or sooner should circumstances improve sufficiently to justify the same. In effect, this simply means there is no change to the existing suspension of Masonic meetings in Scotland.

It was further unanimously agreed that where Scottish Masonic Orders have a presence overseas, meetings of these Orders will be dictated by local government and health guidance relevant to geopolitical location. This will also be subject to review on 9 June 2021.

Dispensation already exists, and will continue, to allow local decision making in respect of meetings under the Scottish Constitution overseas. I only request that District Grand Masters, Grand Superintendents and Lodges under direct supervision keep my office informed with regard to the frequency, or otherwise, of meetings in their specific global locations.
